The Bill & Melinda Gates Scholarship

Bill Gates is known for being one of the richest people in the world and for his trillion-dollar company Microsoft. Microsoft Office has become a staple in office and school life, especially with Covid-19 mandating online communication. What many don’t know, however, is that he and his wife launched The Gates Scholarship Program in 2017. This program is dedicated to helping high-achieving minority students from low-income backgrounds achieve their dreams.

This is a very selective and competitive scholarship, with over 34K students applying every year. However, this should not discourage you from applying, especially if you are the audience this scholarship is geared towards. 300 high school seniors are selected every year to have all of their college expenses paid, including tuition, fees, rooming, and more. The Gates Scholarship also helps its Scholars by being involved in their school lives and helping them make connections all throughout their college careers.

The deadline for this scholarship is September 15, 2023, with the entire timeline available at the application link. To apply for this scholarship you must be a high school senior, a racial minority, pell-eligible, in good academic standing (at least a 3.3 on a 4.0 scale). It is also mentioned that an ideal candidate is in the top 10% of their class, has shown leadership ability and has personal skills that will help them in the workforce.
